Soaking the onion in ice water takes away some of the sting.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
- 2 cups ice water
- 3 navel oranges
- 2 avocados, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation
- 1. Combine onion and water in a bowl; let stand 30 minutes. Drain well.
- 2. Peel and section oranges; cut orange sections in half crosswise. Place in a medium bowl. Add onion and avocado; sprinkle with lime juice and salt, tossing gently to combine.
