Some trends catch on for good reason, and while we love spending an afternoon up to our elbows in homemade icing, sometimes you just want melty treats in no time. These over-the-top brownies start with devil's food cake mix and a few common pantry items and still make your home smell amazing while they bake.
3/4 cup fat-free sweetened condensed milk, divided
1/4 cup butter or stick margarine, melted and cooled
1/4 cup fat-free milk
1 (18.25-ounce) package devil's food cake mix
1 large egg white, lightly beaten
1 (7-ounce) jar marshmallow creme (about 1 3/4 cups)
1/2 cup peanut butter morsels
How to Make It
Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine 1/4 cup condensed milk, butter, and next 3 ingredients (butter through egg white) in a bowl (batter will be very stiff). Coat bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Press two-thirds of batter into prepared pan using floured hands; pat evenly (layer will be thin).
Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Combine 1/2 cup condensed milk and marshmallow creme in a bowl; stir in morsels. Spread marshmallow mixture evenly over brownie layer. Carefully drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over marshmallow mixture. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
So good and yummy. My husband made these, first time he had ever make brownies, so I would say they were very easy. He accidentally doubled the peanut butter chips, just made them better. We also pulled them from the oven at 24 minutes because they were very done, next time I would only cook about 22 minutes. Other than that, we followed the recipe exactly and they were a hit!
These are sooo good! I subtracted a star b/c they are so ooey-gooey, and I feel the directions could help the cook tackle this problem a little better. Mine were almost near-impossible to cut, so the portion control stinks. THAT SAID, DELICIOUS!
These are by-far my favorite brownies and I almost always have the ingredients on hand when I'm craving something gooey & chocolately. Whenever I make them, it comes out perfectly following the recipe exactly and there are never any leftover when I bring them as "treats" for work parties, house parties, etc. VERY easy to make and cleanup is a snap. Feel free to make these a day in advance and store in an airtight container - they will stay moist with no worries. These are perfect little treats; esp in the fall / winter - Enjoy!
These brownies are amazing! They came out perfect (I followed the directions of the users below and only baked for 20 minutes the second time). Definitely messy prep but the outcome is delicious & worth it.
