Onion-Cheese Dip

  • Yield: 3 1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margerine
  • 3 large Vidalia onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

Preparation

Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic: sauté 15 minutes or until onion is slightly browned. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in cheese and remaining ingredients. Cook 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve hot with tortilla chips.
