Onion-Cheese Dip

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter or margerine
- 3 large Vidalia onions, coarsely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
Preparation
- Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic: sauté 15 minutes or until onion is slightly browned. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in cheese and remaining ingredients. Cook 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve hot with tortilla chips.
