Nutty Fruit Filling

  • Yield: 3 1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 8 egg yolks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup chopped sweetened dried cranberries or dried cherries
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup diced red or green candied cherries
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Preparation

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Whisk in egg yolks and sugar; cook, whisking constantly, 11 minutes or until mixture thickens. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cool.
