How to Make It

Step 1

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg, beating well.

Step 2

Combine 3/4 cup flour, baking powder, salt, and spices; add to creamed mixture, beating at low speed of electric mixer just until blended. Stir in vanilla (batter will be thick). Dredge apples and pecans in remaining 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour; fold into batter.

Step 3

Spoon batter into a greased and floured 8 - inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
