Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of ground nutmeg

Preparation

  1. Sauté mushrooms in butter in a small saucepan over low heat 5 minutes. Add flour, stirring until mushrooms are well coated. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add beef broth; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in remaining ingredients. Serve with hamburgers, meat loaf, or steaks.
