  • 2 750ml bottles red wine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 orange - cut into 1/4 inch slices
  • 1 lemon - cut into 1/4 inch slice


  1. In a large saucepan, combine 2750ml bottles red wine, 1/3 cup sugar, 3 cinnamon sticks, 12 whole cloves, 1/4 tsp. each ground nutmeg and allspice, 1 orange and 1 lemon (both cut into 1/4-inch slices). Place saucepan over medium-low heat and bring wine mixture to a simmer. Simmer gently for 20 minutes. Serve warm.
