Mother's Lettuce Slaw

A recipe handed down to Anne from her own mother, this lettuce slaw is so delicious it has stood the test of time! Lettuce Slaw is a cool crisp side dish with the dressing to match.


  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced bell pepper
  • 1 head lettuce

How to Make It

  1. Combine dressing, vinegar, sugar,and celery seeds in a small bowl.

  2. Cut lettuce head in half and thinly cut across lettuce half so as to make thin slices.

  3. Place slices lettuce in bowl and toss with onion and bell pepper. Just before serving drizzle the dressing over the lettuce mixture and serve immediately.
