Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds extra-lean ground beef
  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 3 (8-oz.) cans basil, garlic, and oregano tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (13.9-oz.) package dinner rolls, toasted

Preparation

  1. 1. Cook ground beef in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat 10 minutes or until beef crumbles and is no longer pink. Remove meat from skillet, and drain well.
  2. 2. Sauté onion and bell pepper in skillet 5 minutes or until tender. Return meat to skillet; stir in tomato sauce and next 5 ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes. Spoon mixture evenly into toasted dinner rolls, and serve immediately.
