I'd had a muffuletta sandwich on a trip to New Orleans and was excited to try this version. I did make a few changes and they turned out great! I added in kalamata olives with the green ones. I also used a slice of salami along with a slice of pepperoni on each sandwich. I think the resulting flavor was a lot like the original sandwich the recipe is named for. I took these to a lunch party and they were well received.
Mini Muffuletta Bacon-Olive Party Sandwiches
Yield: Makes 12 appetizer servings
- 24 split cocktail buns or dinner roll halves
- Bacon-Olive Cream Cheese
- 48 pepperoni slices
- Layer bottom of cocktail buns or dinner roll halves evenly with Bacon-Olive Cream Cheese and pepperoni slices; cover with bun halves. Prep: 15 min.
