It was quick, and I had all the ingredients. That was the important thing! I used only 1 cup sugar and about 1 Tbsp of molasses. It was plenty sweet enough. I baked it in a 9" round pan with a removable bottom. No whipping cream so I made a simple chocolate frosting. Ice cream would have been nice, but didn't need the extra calories.

The cake did not turn out so fluffy and flaky like the picture suggests. It was too dense..and glutenish. Still, it was very tasty, I made it twice.

This cake was very easy to make and looked just like the picture except I served it with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate flavor was very good and the best part was that I had all of the ingredients on hand. Good cake to make for a last minute dessert
