I would use a different cheese that melt softer, this just got hard and crusty on top. Gruyère is expensive and is similar to smoked gouda.

This is a quick and easy recipe perfect for summer tomatoes. I didn't have vegenase, so I made my own using 4 tsp Canola mayonnaise and 4 tsp dijon mustard. I would recommend using the Gruyere cheese. It is pricey, but you don't need much. Broil these until they turn lightly brown.

This was tasty - we used a ham steak since the store was out of Canadian bacon, and I also subbed gouda since I'm not a huge fan of gruyere. Best part is that this took all of 3 minutes to make!

This is so good! Quick and easy too. I like to use a whole mustard seed dijon and whatever white cheese I have on hand, not a huge fan of gruyere I agree it is overpriced and not strong enough for what I like. Sharp white cheddar is delicious! I will make this over and over again, just so good!!
