A 4-ingredient appetizer that only takes minutes to make will become one of your favorites to eat and prepare. Sweet Medjool dates are the key.
1/2 pound baguette
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1/3 cup cambozola cheese
6 Medjool dates
How to Make It
Cut 1/2 a baguette (2 1/2 in. wide; 1/2 lb. total) diagonally into 12 equal slices. Arrange slices in a single layer on a 12- by 15-inch baking sheet. Bake in a 450° oven until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes.
In a bowl, mix 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel with 1/3 cup cambozola cheese. Spread equally on 1 side of toast slices.
Cut 6 Medjool dates (2 in. long) in half lengthwise; discard pits. Place 1 half, cut side down, on each toast.
Return pan to oven and bake until cheese is soft, 1 to 2 minutes. Top toast slices equally with 1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel.
