Light Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 medium onions, diced
- 2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes
- 1 (10 1/4-ounce) can tomato puree
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
Preparation
- Melt butter in a Dutch oven; add onion, and sauté until tender. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients; cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, 20 minutes.
