I usually read the reviews before I try a recipe....I would not make this one again. Some of the rice was mush and some not cooked. Ultimately, it was barely edible.

I made this recipe a few days ago and thought it was terrible. The rice was mush and the chicken didn't have much flavor. I actually just logged on so that I could remove the recipe from my file because I won't be making this again.

I followed the recipe and at first the rice did not cook at all. I turned the slow cooker to high checked an hour later and some of the rice was mush and some was still uncooked. The flavor of the chicken had potential.

The rice turned out "gummy". The flavor was OK but the texture of the rice was a turnoff and I only cooked it for 2 hours. The chicken was moist but that is to be expected with a slow cooker. Overall, would NOT recommend or make again.

Why would a recipe with such terrible reviews be on your website?

Based on the previous reviews I doctored this recipe. I followed the recipe but used 2 boxes of Uncle Ben's instead of rice. I preheated the slowcooker and cooked on high for 2 hours, opening and stirring after each hour. I added water when it was done to loosen up the rice. Everything was cooked and was so YUMMY. We loved it.

The flavors are very good. But after 3 hours, the rice was not cooked at all. I'll try it again sometime, but I'll cook the rice a little before adding the chicken.

The 5 star rater didn't cook the recipe as directed - and has horribly skewed the average rating. This is inedible, the rice won't cook in that amount of time on low in a crock pot (I feared, but went ahead anyway and got what I expected). I tried to rescue it on the stove top, but it turned out gluey like trying to make a risotto with undercooked long-grain rice. Yuck. Take out burgers tonight instead.

COOK YOUR RICE FIRST! After 3 hours, the rice wasn't even close to done. I had to remove the rice from the crockpot and boil it on the stove. Might be easier to cook the chicken separately and use the lemon-broth to make the rice. Don't get out your crockpot for this dish!

I didn't make recipe exactly as stated because I somehow didn't pay close attention to the directions. But aside from being too lemony, it turned out well and I'd make again with less lemon juice. Because I cook a lot with Rice a Roni, my eyes translated the long grain rice for long grain and wild rice, lol. Once I realized the mistake, and the boxed rice being all I had on hand, I went ahead with it. It took three boxes to measure two cups. I also didn't realize I had to split the butter and used all of it for the onions and garlic. No problem, I just strained and still had plenty to brown the chicken. I seasoned with a little sea salt but will cut salt altogether next time because I opted to go ahead and use the seasoning packets that came with the rice. I didn't use fresh parsley because there is dried in the seasoning packs. After reading that cooking on low didn't cook the rice well, I cooked on high for about the same amount of time and the rice turned out perfectly.
