these were part of my christmas cookie platter last year. they are just so-so. i did like the look of the poppy seeds, a nice sprinkling and contrast in color. the taste wasn't as fresh as i had hoped given the amounts of lemon juice and zest. i think the butter reduction reduced the lemon effect instead of intensifying it.
These cookies were DELICIOUS!! I went ahead and did the drop method instead on rolling and cutting. Fantastic. I made a light lemon glaze for the top, too! I highly recommend these. I only baked them about 11 mins. or so, so that the poppyseeds didn't brown too much to make a real nutty flavor and overpower the lemon.
