Lemon Ice Cream

Yield 2 1/2 quarts


  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 cups half and half
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind
  • 3/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients; pour into the freezer container of a 5-quart electric freezer, and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Pack freezer with additional ice and rock salt, and let stand 1 hours before serving.
