Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons shortening, melted

Preparation

  1. Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and shortening, mixing well.
  2. Pour batter into a greased 8- inch square baking pan. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
