- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
- Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and shortening, mixing well.
- Pour batter into a greased 8- inch square baking pan. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
