This pasta recipe is another great example of authentic Italian flavor made the easy way. The combination of tomato and basil is an Italian standard, but the addition of Johnsonville® Italian Sausages gives this meal that feel-good feeling that follows every delicious meal.
1 1/2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes or 1 can (28 ounces) whole plum tomatoes, drained and coarsely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
How to Make It
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add sausage, crumble and cook until no longer pink and lightly browned. Add pepper flakes, onion and garlic. Sauté until tender. Meanwhile, prepare pasta according to package directions. Stir tomatoes and salt into sausage mixture, continue to cook for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to simmer, add cream and Parmesan cheese. Continue to simmer until cheese melts and mixture thickens. In a large bowl combine sauce with hot pasta and basil. Toss gently to coat. Serve.
