Jimmy Dean Italian Style Stuffing

Yield 10 to 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Italian Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups diced onion
  • 1 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (10-ounce) package frozen spinach, thawed and drained
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) package herbed dry bread cubes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

How to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 325° F. In a large saucepan or stockpot, cook sausage over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked and no longer pink. Add mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, celery and garlic; cook 10 to 12 minutes or until onion is translucent, stirring frequently. Transfer mixture to a large bowl; add remaining ingredients and stir well. Pour into a buttered 3- or 4-quart casserole dish. Bake covered for 50 to 60 minutes.
