I received a new bread machine as a gift and used it to create a most delicious recipe for pesto-and-herb bread. It gets rave reviews from family and friends and is a wonderful complement to meat or meatless meals.
3 1/4 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons 1% low-fat milk
2 tablespoons commercial pesto
2 teaspoons olive oil
How to Make It
Lightly spoon bread flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for placing flour and remaining ingredients into the bread pan. Select the European bake cycle, and start the bread machine.
Good tasting bread. Rather than using a bread machine, I made this using a typical technique for loaf-style breads. I proofed the yeast with some of the water, added all ingredients, kneaded, and let rise once before shaping into a loaf. This would be good with chicken or turkey sandwiches.
