Cook first 8 ingredients in a large Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring until meat crumbles and is no longer pink; drain.
Stir in mushrooms and next 6 ingredients; simmer 3 hours. Stir in 1 tablespoon basil just before serving; serve over ravioli. Garnish, if desired.
* 1 pound ground beef may be substituted.
