Hot Sweet Mustard

Yield 1 cup


  • 1/4 cup dry mustard
  • 2/3 cup water, divided
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup vinegar

How to Make It

  1. Combine mustard and 1/8 cup water in a small mixing bowl; stir until smooth. Set aside.

  2. Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a small saucepan. Gradually add remaining water, stirring until well blended. Add vinegar; stir well. Cook over low heat 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; set aside to cool. Add reserved mustard mixture; stir well. Serve over baked ham or on sandwiches.
