For an Asian dish, the flavor in this recipe is surprisingly subtle. I really regret not marinating the beef. The sauce is very good, and even reminds me of my mother-in-law's homemade nưá»c mắm pha, but the beef really begs flavor. I think this recipe could be good if the beef were given a kind of chili-lime marinade beforehand.
