Ingredients
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 (5-ounce) jar prepared horseradish
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 whole cloves
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Preparation
- Sauté onion in butter in a medium saucepan over low heat until tender; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add beef broth; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Add remaining ingredients; cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove cloves and bay leaves before serving.
