Horseradish Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 (5-ounce) jar prepared horseradish
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

  1. Sauté onion in butter in a medium saucepan over low heat until tender; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add beef broth; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Add remaining ingredients; cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove cloves and bay leaves before serving.
