Prep time 20 mins
Bake time 55 mins
Yield

Yields 12 brownies (serving size: 1 brownie)

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped, roasted mixed nuts

How to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square metal baking pan with foil, draping foil over edges. Mist with cooking spray.

  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove pan from heat and stir in chocolate until melted and smooth. Let cool.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk together honey, sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt until smooth and pale, about 30 seconds. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture and buttermilk. Stir in flour until just combined. Stir in nuts, then pour batter into baking pan.

  4. Bake until a toothpick inserted into brownies comes out clean, 55 to 60 minutes. Transfer pan to a rack and let cool completely. Lift brownies out of pan, remove foil and cut into 12 pieces. Wrap brownies in plastic wrap and store at room temperature for up to 5 days.
