Honey-Mustard Barbecue Sauce

Prep time 15 mins
Cook time 18 mins
Yield Makes 1 1/2 cups
This is a thick, hearty sauce. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add 1/4 cup water.

Ingredients

  • 1 bacon slice, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

How to Make It

  1. Cook bacon in a medium saucepan until crisp; remove bacon, and drain on paper towels, reserving drippings in saucepan.

  2. Sauté onion and garlic in hot drippings about 3 minutes or until tender. Stir in bacon, vinegar, and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Store in refrigerator for up to 1 week.
