Honey-Chipotle Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches

    Easy recipe that is very satisfying. Taste the sauce before adding the entire amount of chipotle peppers. As written, it has more heat than some people can handle. I served it with pasta salad and avocado slices. This is a good make-ahead meal and will go in my repertoire!

    This recipe was great! I pulled apart the chicken instead of cut it for a more "authentic" barbecue feel. The chicken was so moist!

    While it's been awhile since this recipe came out, we've continued to make it again and again. We love it! It is really spicy, but we like spicy and use the pepper jack cheese sometimes to make it extra hot. Mmm..

    Big hit - made this tonight and everyone loved it! I did take reviewers' advice and cut the chipolte down to 1 and 1/2 peppers and seeded them - they are spicy! Also used tomato paste/water instead of puree. Will definitely make again!

    You can tone down the sodium by not adding the salt, making your own tomato puree (cut, seed and put fresh tomatoes in a blender)and use low sodium worcestershire sauce. I also just used ground chipotle instead of the canned for less sodium. Not sure how much sodium this cuts out, but it has to help. Love the recipe. Chipotle is my favorite spice!!! Yummy!!

    Used only 1 chili and removed seeds as noted by other reviewers. Also, didn't have tomato puree on hand, so I used 1 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste diluted with 1/2 cup water. Great flavor for such an easy recipe. Will definitely make again for a great weeknight way to use chicken.

    I would love to make this recipe, however the sodium level is way too high. Please tone it down in these recipes. Those of us who need to cook light need recipes with less salt/sodium. Thank you

    These sandwiches have a nice kick to them. I used jalaprno cayenne cheese instead of the Monterey Jack. I served with a green salad and CL's Baked Apples for dessert.

    There is a lot of heat in the sauce, which we loved. I just made the chicken and sauce rather than turning these into sandwiches. Served with a green salad and Mom's Pennsylvania Dutch Beans, which turned out great because the creaminess of the beans offset the heat of the sauce.

    Fantastic! I actually rubbed the chicken with cumin and garlic powder and grilled it rather than the poaching. One less pan. Also caramelized the onions because I wasn't in the mood for raw ones. Delicious. This will go on regular rotation. Definitely add the chipotle & adobo a little at a time. It can get quite spicy.

    This recipe is soo good. It's spicy with a perfect blend of sweetness. You can always turn down the heat by using one chipotle pepper instead of two and also by omitting the adobo sauce. However, in my house, heat is welcome. I served it with macaroni salad and a tossed salad.

    Loved it! Couldn't find the peppers or adobo sauce- BUT improvised and used all else, and used some crushed red pepper, some black pepper and smidge extra tomoato puree...It didn't matter- it was YUM! Hubby loved it and now demands it added to the recipe rotation. YUM! Best BBQ I have had.

    Didn't like at all. The chicken had little flavor (and I simmered it in the sauce for 10 minutes) and was a bit rubbery! Will stick with the Pulled Chicken - much better!

    This was a huge hit at my house. DD said it was in her top 10 meals of all time (wow). I cut the chipotle and adobo sauce in half so it wouldn't be too spicy for us. I also used a mix of boneless skinless chicken breast and thigh meat to keep it more moist. Delicious and easy. Definitely adding it to our regular rotation.

    The chipotles in adobo sauce really make this dish. Don't skip it!
