Herbed Green Beans

Fresh herbs brighten the flavor of simple vegetable dishes like steamed green beans. Use the fresh herbs from your garden in varying combinations and amounts to suit your taste preference. There aren't any rules.

  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed
  • 2 teaspoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


Arrange beans in a vegetable steamer. Steam, covered, 9 minutes or until crisp-tender. Place in a serving bowl; toss with butter. Add parsley and remaining ingredients; toss gently.
