"Papa" Ernest Hemingway preferred his drinks on the boozier side, so the El Floridita in Havana nixed the sugar and doubled the amount of rum in its daiquiri, eventually christening the drink in his honor.
1/2 cup ice cubes
6 tablespoons (3 oz.) rum
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon fresh grapefruit juice
1 tablespoon (1/2 oz.) maraschino liqueur
Garnish: lime wedge
How to Make It
Combine 1/2 cup ice cubes, rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and maraschino liqueur in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish, if desired, and serve immediately.
