Hawaiian Vanilla Sauce
This recipe goes with Waialua Chocolate Tart with Sable Crust
Yield: Makes 1 1/4 cups
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 Hawaiian vanilla bean
- 1/3 cup fresh lilikoi or passion fruit juice blend
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Combine egg and sugar in a bowl, whisking until smooth. Split vanilla bean pod in half lengthwise, and scrape seeds into egg mixture. Whisk in juice blend.
- Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir in egg mixture, whisking constantly. Bring to a simmer; cook 6 minutes or until thickened, whisking constantly. Chill until ready to serve.
