    This is very tasty, but I will be reserving for special occasions because it is so pricey.

    This is the 2nd time I prepared this recipe and am pleased with way it turned out. I did find that 12 oz. of bread did not equal 9 cups so I ended up using about 2-3 more slices of bread and am glad that I did so. Also, I had some fat-free half-and-half on hand so I used that instead of the skim milk and I think that it made the strata taste richer.

    Very good, and I will definitely make again. I used 8 oz of button mushrooms and chopped tomatoes, and onion instead of shallots. Used fresh grated Parmesan cheese and added some dried Italian seasoning and a dash or two of hot sauce to the egg mix.
