Any brined, smoked supermarket ham will be welcomed on your holiday table in addition to (or in lieu of) the turkey. If you're using a spiral ham, there's no need to score it and stud with cloves.
Makes 8 to 10 servings

1 (8-lb.) fully cooked, bone-in ham
1 tablespoon whole cloves
Preheat oven to 325°. Place ham in an aluminum foil-lined 13- x 9-inch pan. Make shallow cuts in fat 1 inch apart in a diamond pattern. Insert cloves in centers of diamonds. Pour conserve over ham, add 1/2 cup water to pan, and cover with foil. Bake 4 hours or until a meat thermometer inserted into thickest portion registers 165°, basting with pan juices every hour. Remove from oven, and let stand 15 minutes before serving.
