Absolutely delicious. The splash of orange juice gives the toast a lighter but flavorful taste. Accompanied by the fruit (you can really use any fruit you want), this makes for a great meal that we make over and over again.
Guiltless French Toast
This lightened version of French toast is made with egg whites instead of whole eggs, orange juice and whole wheat bread and has less than 5 grams of fat per serving.

Ingredients
- 8 egg whites
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 whole grain bakery bread slices
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Fresh blueberries and kiwi slices
Preparation
- 1. Whisk together first 4 ingredients in a shallow dish. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides.
- 2. Melt butter on a griddle or in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place bread slices on hot griddle, and pour remaining egg mixture over bread slices. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden. Drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fruit.
