Guava BBQ Sauce

Yield Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup guava nectar
  • 8 ounces guava paste or jelly
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Hot sauce to taste

How to Make It

  1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté 3 to 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in guava nectar and remaining ingredients. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until mixture is slightly thickened.
