I made this recipe for Thanksgiving this year - so easy and let's you focus on the other bazillion dishes you are preparing! My husband said it was the best he's had and asks me to make it every few weeks. Wonderful!

First off, I didn't realize I was following a slow cooker recipe until I couldn't find the pan size...so I compromised. I used a 9"x13" baking dish. I'm not really into canned food from the grocery store (in tin cans) so I used 3 , 10 ounce bags of frozen cut organic green beans (and let them thaw mostly). Instead of canned mushrooms I used fresh sliced mushrooms. I left out the Worcestershire sauce, didn't put as much cheese, and didn't have enough french fried onions (accidentally bought the smaller sized container). The results were awesome! I would've loved to have more french fried onions, but I was super satisfied. Would love to use fresh green beans too.

Excellent green bean casserole and easy to make. Used a casserole dish and baked in the oven vice the slow cooker.

Fresh green beans make this better but there are so many great green bean casseroles out there now that this 75 yr old recipe needs a new look. Folks have gotten away from that Campbell Soup can recipe alot as of late. I guess after sooooo many years of it, I am just tired and found something new.
