Unlike most haroset recipes, this one is cooked. Prepare it a day ahead so flavors can blend fully.

Ingredients
- 2 cups whole pitted dates
- 2 cups water
- 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1 Golden Delicious apple, peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1/4 cup sweet red wine
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Preparation
- Combine dates, water, and apples in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 25 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; cool at least 15 minutes.
- Place apple mixture and wine in a food processor; pulse 5 times (mixture will be chunky). Add nuts; pulse 2 times to combine.
