Greek Steak Pitas

    I have made this dish several times and enjoy it each time. Chicken works perfectly as a substitute for steak!

    Very tasty and very easy! Was even very good the next day for leftovers! We made hummus with baby carrots and pita chips as a side - very good, nutritious meal!

    This recipe will go in my file. I made the recipe as indicated, except that I cut the steak into strips before cooking, and slightly cooked the onion. I think it took longer to assemble the eight pita halves then it did to chop and cook everything. Thought I would miss a sauce, but didn't. The combination with the spinach and everything was good as it was. A traditional sauce would've taken away from it. We used store bought hummus, pita chips and veggies on the side.

    I thought this was a good recipe and it did also go into my file. I laughed when I read another review about how it took longer to assemble the pitas than it did to chop the ingredients...I kind of agree. It took me longer than 20 minutes (what was advertised in the magazine) from start to finish, but it was still a quick, yummy weeknight meal. I loved the flavors of the cool cucumbers and red onion with the tangy feta cheese and succulent beef. I used sirloin instead of flank steak and grilled it instead of pan-frying in butter/oil. Good recipe.

    Husband liked it--really a plus! Agree that assembling took longer than preparation. Second time around I used left over London broil for beef. Will make again.

    The meat was tasty, but the hummus recipe was lacking, and the spinach mixture was not good. If I were to make again I would probably just use raw spinach. I did like the red wine vinegar a lot.

    This was a quick weeknight meal. It was tasty and easy to make. I served it with the hummus, which my family didn't like. I would make the pitas again but not the hummus.

    Good and easy weeknight meal. As another reviewer, I also sliced the steak before marinating. Used less than half of the lemon jc. in the spinach, just put enough in for my taste. Good flavors when everything comes together in the pocket;-)

    These weren't bad but the flavors didn't really come together for me. Not worth all the effort.
