- 1 9" Pie shell Cooked
- 2.5 cup(s) milk
- 1 cup(s) brown suar lightly packed
- 4.5 tablespoon(s) cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1/3 cup(s) butter
- 2 egg yolks beaten
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
- Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and salt together with a small amount of milk to make a smooth paste. Put butter and milk in top of double boiler, heat until butter is soft. Add sugar mixture. Cook and stir until thick and smooth. Add egg yolks. Cook 5 minutes more. Remove from stove. Stir in Vanilla. Pour into cooked pie shell. Top with meringue (and bake 10-15 minutes @ 400 until top is golden brown) or Whipped cream.
