Glazed Onions

Yield 6 to 8 servings
We enjoyed these small white onions with pork chops.

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 (16-ounce) packages frozen small white onions
  • 3/4 cup raisins

How to Make It

  1. Bring first 9 ingredients to a boil in a large skillet, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add onions and raisins; return to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring often, 10 minutes. Uncover and cook over medium heat, stirring often, 20 to 25 minutes or until glazed. Remove and discard bay leaf. Serve warm.
