There’s no sweeter way to let your furry best friend join in on the holiday fun than baking up a batch of these lightly spiced, fido-friendly  “gingerbread” treats.

How to Make It

Step 1

Whisk together flour, cinnamon, and cloves in a medium bowl, and set aside.

Step 2

Whisk together molasses, water, coconut oil, and ginger in another bowl until combined. Stir molasses mixture into dry ingredients, and stir until a dough forms. Wrap dough in plastic wrap, and chill 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F.

Step 3

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and roll to 1/4-inch thickness.

Step 4

Use any desired bone-shape or festive cookie cutters, and cut dough into various shapes. Excess dough may be re-rolled and cut.

Step 5

Place shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake in preheated oven until slightly firm, 7 to 9 minutes. Let cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes.

Step 6

Beat together cream cheese and maple syrup with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Color as desired. Decorate cookies with icing.
