Gingerbread

Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup(s) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup(s) butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup(s) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) light molasses
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon(s) ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cloves

Preparation

Pour water over butter or margarine. Add sugar, molasses and egg, and beat well.

Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture and beat until smooth.

Pour batter into parchment lined 8" square pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. Cool in pan.
