Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray

Preparation

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. 2. With an electric mixer, beat sugar and butter on medium until well blended. Add syrup, juice, egg, and zest; beat well, and set aside.
  3. 3. Combine flour, ginger, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl; add the dry mixture to the syrup mixture, stirring until well blended.
  4. 4. Pour batter into 8-inch square baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean from center. Cool cake in pan on a wire rack.
