Ginger-Almond Topping

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds, toasted
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups milk

How to Make It

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients; cut in shortening with a fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Stir in ground ginger, toasted almonds, and enough milk to make a soft dough.
