  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chopped cooked giblets
  • 1 hard-cooked egg, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper


  1. Melt shortening in a large skillet over low heat. Add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add broth; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in remaining ingredients.
