I've made this 5 times now. My kids, 7 & 9, LOVE these - and so do we. I skip the sugar and add 2 tbsp tomato paste and use garlic powder. This is a quick crowd pleasing dinner. ps - sometimes we skip the buns and add crumbled chips, lettuce and cheese...and call it Sloppy Ole!

I made this recipe as directed and it was enjoyed by the whole family. Next time I might omit the sun dried tomatoes and cut down on the chili powder. I served the GI Joes with Tangy Mustard ColeSlaw also from the CL site and the two dishes complimented each other well. This recipe makes a large amount but would be good as leftovers. I would like to try other uses for this recipe as other reviewers suggested. Will definitely make it again.

this was delish, all four kids ate it. i added shredded carrots to up the veg and doubled the spices. maybe even quadrupled the garlic.

VERY GOOD! I usually use ground beef or turkey and it tastes good either way. I also add a bit more sugar or splenda to help provide a bit more of a traditional BBQ flavor!
