Hands-on time 10 mins
Total time 10 mins

Makes 2 1/4 cups

Iconic Texas Sheet Cake just wouldn't be the same without a rich, chocolate icing. The fun surprise to this frosting? Dr. Pepper!

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 (4-oz.) unsweetened chocolate baking bar, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons spicy, fruity cola soft drink (such as Dr Pepper)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Cook butter and chocolate in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking often, until melted and smooth.

  2. Remove from heat, and whisk in milk and soft drink until blended. Gradually sift in powdered sugar, whisking constantly. Whisk in vanilla. Use immediately.
