Fruit Dressing

Yield about 5 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups golden raisins
  • 1 cup sherry
  • 2 cups peeled, chopped apple
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried whole thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried whole chervil
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried whole rosemary, crushed
  • 2 cups toasted seasoned breadcrumbs

How to Make It

  1. Combine raisins and sherry. Let stand 2 hours.

  2. Sauté apple, onion, and garlic in butter in a medium skillet until tender. Add raisins and sherry, parsley, lemon juice, and spices; simmer 10 minutes. Stir in breadcrumbs, tossing well.
