  7. 8 oz Fruit Cocktail -- (1 Can)
  8. 1/4 c Butter Or Margarine -- Softened
  9. 1/3 c Sugar
  10. 1 Egg -- Large
  11. 1/4 t Vanilla
  12. 1 1/4 c Flour -- Unbleached
  13. 1/4 t Baking Powder
  14. 1/4 t Baking Soda
  15. 1 tb Maraschino Cherry Juice
  16. 1/2 c Coconut -- Flaked
  17. 1/4 c Maraschino Cherries -- Chopped

  18. Drain fruit; reserve 1/3 cup of syrup. Chop fruit; set aside. Cream
  19. butter and sugar; beat in egg and vanilla. Stir flour with baking powder,
  20. soda and 1/4 t salt. Mis reserved syrup with cherry syrup. Add flour
  21. mixture alternately with syrups to creamed mixture; mix well. Stir in
  22. fruit, coconut, and cherries. Spread in greased 9 X 9 X 2-inch baking
  23. pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool. If desired, sift
  24. powdered sugar over top and cut into bars.

  25. Makes 24 bars.
